The parish is made up of two geographical
communities; Espada Road and Villa Coronado (Cabrini).
Espada Road has a rural character, Villa Coronado is a
neighborhood at the very edge of the city (both
communities are outside I 410). The Espada Road
population tends to be a little older. Families have
lived there for generations. Villa Coronado has enjoyed a
slow but steady development during the last 15 years. The
majority of the parishioners live in Villa Coronado. Some
of the Villa Coronado families have their roots in
Espada, others have their roots in northern Mexico. The
City's investment in C.D.B.G. dollars and HUD programs
has kept a significant number of young families in the
area. According to the 90 census, the poverty rate of
the parish (census #1519) is 45%. (One of the poorest in
Bexar County). The median income at 17,117 is two thirds
the county median income. It has a lower population of
elderly over 64 (7% vs. county average of 10%). It has
the second highest percentage of people in Bexar County
with less than a ninth grade education. 92% of the
population are identified as Hispanic.
