PARISH ORGANIZATIONS

HELPING HANDS

St. Joseph has a parish care and concern committee called Helping Hands. This group is dedicated to serving others in a variety of social service ministries. The criterion for helping people is that they are part of the parish community or neighborhood and have no other way of having their needs met. Helping Hands meets several types of needs.

Food Bank: Volunteers work each week distributing food for those who have need. Call Marilyn at 452-4734.

Prayer Line: This ministry receives requests on a daily basis and prays for those intentions. Anyone may call to ask for prayers, and our volunteers pray for those requests. Call Lillian at 825-8540.

Visitation: Visits those who are homebound and those in the hospitals and nursing homes. They visit and pray with people who are not able to join us at church. Call Anna or Ginny at

459-6801.

Clothing Store: Works every week distributing clothing to those who exhibit need. They work diligently preparing, sorting and arranging as well as helping those who come for help. Call Barb at 868-2376.

Transportation: This team gives rides to church and to other parish activities. Need help getting a ride, please call Tammy at 456-2835, or if you would like to volunteer to help. We need you. Home Repair: Does maintenance work in the homes of parishioners. These volunteers are good at general repair work and upkeep. Call Mark at 456-2835.
Need assistance? Contact the rectory or if you would like to volunteer to be a minister in one of these areas call Joni Blackman at 453-4818. This program is most rewarding for both the recipient and the volunteer.

Rosary Society

The Rosary Society of St. Joseph’s is an organization of women in the parish who seek to enhance the spiritual, social, and cultural life of our parish Special projects include a roast beef dinner in November and a card party in April. Meetings are held September through June on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:30 PM. New members are always welcome. Call Mabel Manno at 456-8988.

Exercise Club

Over these past few years this club was formed for those men and women who felt the need to get into an exercise program. This organization meets every Tuesday evening at 7:00 under the direction of Frances Williams at 825-9452. All age groups are welcome. The format changes slightly to meet the needs of today’s members.

Youth Ministry

St. Joseph Youth Ministry program has recognized the special needs of adolescents. This program has been designed in recent years to meet the changing needs of our young people by challenging them to reflect upon their lives in relationship to the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. This program uses a variety of formats including small groups, service work, retreats, recreational activities, and instruction to prepare young people for an adult faith life. Watch the bulletin for details or call Fr. Lucas at the rectory.

Parish Day Trips

Three or four times a year this group takes trips arranged by the Pastoral Minister and attended by anyone who would like to go. These range in escapes to the "big woods" in the Fall of the year to boat excursions, ball games, and even to a casino. (10% of all winnings go to the parish by decree of Fr. Lucas.) These trips are wonderful fun, inspiring, and a real chance to meet some of your fellow parishioners. Watch for details.
