Mission Statement

THY KINGDOM COME: The Parish Council took some time at its January meeting to think about the purpose, the meaning, the reason, the mission, the task of our parish. Another way of putting this is to ask, why are we who we are. A list of considerations was developed. The list included the following items:
  • The purpose of our parish is to get the Word of God out to the people
  • Our parish is a place of worship
  • Our parish is a people caring for one another-almost like a family
  • Our parish must reach out to others
  • One purpose of our parish is to pass on the faith to our children
  • Our parish is the place where we receive the Sacraments
  • Another purpose of our parish is to support ourselves in the faith
  • Still another purpose of our parish is to help to guide on a continuing basis the people in the direction of Christ, especially by encouraging the practice of the spiritual and corporal works of mercy
  • And yet another purpose of our parish is to invite people to come and see why we are who we are

Once this list was assembled, the council looked for a way to summarize everything in it and to include all the other insights that we did not have time to include. The council agreed that the words of Our Lord in the OUR FATHER, "Thy Kingdom Come," could be applied to what we think a parish is and should be. In God's Kingdom we will find all the things we are looking for: love, peace, justice, unity, family, community, worship and gratitude. Isn't this what we want for our parish? No wonder Jesus taught to pray THY KINGDOM COME. Should we desire anything less for our parish.
