Last Tuesday, August 26th began the first day of school. The opening of the 1997-98 school year! Excitement rings through the halls. All the teachers have their classrooms decorated and prepared. We Invite you to step into the school after Mass this weekend and see what we have. Whether you have children or relatives in school or not.. all parishioners should feel welcome and invited. Please come!

As our diocese celebrates its sesquicentennial anniversary, we realize that Catholic schools have played a significant role in the life of the diocese and In our efforts to teach the faith. Study after study demonstrates clearly the excellence of education in our schools in every academic discipline. Catholic schools provide our young people with all the tools, skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in life.

Catholic schools prepare our children for a bright hope-filled future. A high quality academic education trains our children's minds effectively. But far more importantly, our schools shape their hearts and souls as well. They show a great love for Jesus Christ and the Church. Our young people go forth from Catholic schools understanding thoroughly that they are children of God) blessed with the gifts of the Holy Spirit, responsible for helping to bring forth the kingdom of God through a life of justice, service, self-discipline, and good deeds.

Our response to Catholic schools should be a resounding YES! We must continue as individuals, as a community, as a Church, to make every sacrifice possible to give our children a premiere education -- a Catholic education.

Catholic schools really do provide the great beginnings that last a lifetime. It is my wish that each and everyone of young people attend Catholic school! It is so important...here and hereafter! Consider it!

God bless you, Father Keller
