Here are some commonly asked questions about our new Church:

How many will the Church seat?
The Church will seat 1100 comfortably.

Why is the Church designed as it is?
The semicircular arrangement of the pews brings the worshipers closer to the altar thus making them feel more a part of the Mass and encouraging greater participation. The last pew will be 60 feet from the altar. By pitching the floor, those in the back will have a clearer view of the altar. Provisions have been made for the handicapped and hearing impaired.

What provisions have been made for the music ministry?
Provisions have been made for an organ as well as other musical instruments. Space and the requisite microphone jacks and electrical outlets have been provided for both the choir and the folk group. A practice space with ample storage for choir robes, coats, music, etc. has been included in the Church. This space can also be used for meetings and other gatherings.

What is the Narthex?
The narthex (or vestibule) serves as a buffer between the noise and activity of the street and the Church. Adjoining the narthex is a gathering space, the hospitality room, which offers a place to linger and share refreshments after Mass. A coat room and small kitchen, complete with sink, stove and refrigerator are also to be found off the narthex as are rest room facilities.

Will there be a Daily Mass Chapel?
Accessible from the narthex, the chapel will seat 100. Separated from the Church by sliding glass doors, it will offer a more intimate space for those attending daily Mass and make it unnecessary to maintain the Church temperature at a comfortable level during the week. By opening the glass doors and reversing the chairs, seating in the Church can be increased to 1200.

Where will the Sacristy be located?
In order to facilitate the procession used prior to Mass, the sacristy is also located ajdacent to the narthex. The sacristy is of suffucuent size to accomodate the celebrant, ministers and altar servers. Ample storage is provided for vestments, vessels, books, coats, etc.

Where will the tabernacle be located?
The tabernacle will be located in a chapel accessible to the Church and the daily Mass chapel. The Eucharistic Chapel will fulfill the general instructions of the Roman Missal which states, "Every encouragement should be given to the practice of Eucharistic reservation in a chapel suited to the faithful's private adoration and prayer."

What provisions have been made for the ushers (brides)?
A room, located off the narthex, is designed to serve the needs of both ushers and brides. It will have ample storage space and a connecting rest room.

Are there any other rooms located adjacent to the narthex?
Opposite the sacristy, on the right side of the narthex, is a room which will serve as a center for instruction in the Catholic Faith, a library containing books and videos, and a meeting room.

Will there be art glass windows?
There will be art glass windows in the following locations: above the altar, above the entrance of the Church from the narthex, the daily Mass chapel, the Eucharistic Chapel, and the Marian niche to the left of the altar. A design will be executed for the eight windows of the Church; they will be installed as funds become available.
