Rules for Fast and Abstinence
The Church law of abstinence obliges all baptized Catholics 14 years of age and older not to eat meat. All Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence.
The Church law of fast obliges all baptized Catholics aged 18 through 59 to refrain from eating between meals and to limit themselves to one full meal and two lighter meals each day. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of fast.
