PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL

IMPORTANCE: The Parish Pastoral Council coordinates and assists in bringing together our community and its mission in the key areas of Education, Service, Stewardship and Worship.
WHAT: The Council is the leadership body within the parish community. Its purpose is to set a broad sense of direction for the whole parish. It safeguards and promotes the unity of the whole parish. It safeguards and promotes the unity of the Parish family. It regularly reviews the Parish Goals in the light of the Parish Mission Statement and oversees the progress of the various Commissions toward the achievement of their objectives.
TIME: Two hours once per month, September through June.
SKILLS: Council members are required to be active and participating members of the Parish. They must be committed to prayer, to the Word of God and to a healthy sense of the Church.
TRAINING: Council members are expected to attend the Archdiocesan and Vicariate Parish Council Formation Workshops. Sacred Heart Parish Pastoral Council plans a weekend away for inservice education once each year.
