Parish Organizations
The Finance Council is a separate entity from the parish council. It is set up to advise the Parish Council and the Pastor in all financial matters. It reviews the requests from all committees, the Parish Council and the Pastor for purchases of other than ordinary operating expenses and advises on the feasibility of allocating the resources as requested.
Legion of Mary: The Legion of Mary is an organization founded in Dublin, Ireland on September 7, 1921. Its purpose was to bring the Catholic religion to the street people of Dublin. Over the years it has evolved into an organization which visits the sick and shut-ins of a parish to bring the love of Jesus to them. The Legion at St. Therese consists often (10) men who meet every Monday evening from 8:00-9:00 p.m. Following the Legion format, the meeting includes the Rosary, report of visits made, assignments for future visits and a prayer to the blessed Mother. In the course of the year, the Legion members have visited the sick, both in the hospitals and in their homes. They have attended wake services and funeral Masses and grave side services. They have taken communion to the shut-ins, and make home calls. The Legion provides an essential spiritual support for the parish. Our goal over the next year is to increase our membership, as our members are getting older and a younger group would add a new dimension to our group which we can use.
