Parish Organizations


Deacons.

There are (3) Permanent Deacons ordained by the Bishop and assigned to St. Therese Parish.

-Carmine Angeloni, transferred from the Church of the Ascension in Hamden in 1991, ordained in 1973.

-Louis Florio, transferred from St. Barnabas Church in 1994, ordained in 1992.

-Frank Paturzo, who was assigned to St. Therese since 1981, the year he was ordained.

The Permanent Deacons serve the parish in many forms of ministry. They assist the priest at Mass, preach on a regular schedule, perform Baptisms, visit the sick and conduct prayer services. Mr. Florio is responsible for Pre-Baptismal classes and Baptisms. Mr. Angeloni is Spiritual Director for the Legion of Mary, and is responsible for many of the pre-nuptial interviews. Mr. Paturzo is currently on sick leave.

 

The Liturgy Committee:

The Liturgy Committee works to plan and promote all liturgies at St. Therese: Sunday and weekday Masses; all other religious events celebrated in the parish. The Liturgy Committee oversees the committees or persons who schedule the following: Eucharistic Ministers, Greeters (Ushers), Gift Bearers, Lectors (Readers), Music, and Altar Servers.

The Liturgy Committee:

1. Takes into account the liturgical seasons and their effect on the Liturgies.

2. Helps develop the liturgical life of the parish.

3. Identifies the liturgical needs of the parish.

Meetings
:
Second Wednesday of every month September thru May.

 

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist:

A group of men and women who are commissioned by the Bishop to assist with administering Communion to parishioners during Mass. They are also given the responsibility of bringing Communion to shut-ins in the parish and to those in hospitals. Each Eucharist Minister is commissioned for three (3) years (renewable).

Membership: Open to any active parishioner by request to the Pastor.

 

Lectors:

A group of men, women and children in 5th grade and up, who read the Scripture and the Prayers of the Faithful at the Saturday Vigil and Sunday Masses. The Lectors read on alternate weekends. Page 2
