The land on which the city of Wilmington, and
the church of St. Peter & St. Paul stands has a
history that predates the spanish settlement of what is
now California. Indians of the shoshone tribe were to greet the first expedition that arrived from Mexico. It is within the memory of most of us that when the harbor freeway was under construction, remains of indians were found along the right of way, and an indian burial ground was uncovered. This land passed on to a family that would own it for the next 200 years. |
